Proposal

Proposal ID: 106790
Type: Change Course
Submission Date: April 16, 2019 4:23pm
Effective Term: Summer 2019
Justification:
The Math department recently decided to replace the 10-week, 4 credit course MTH 306 (Matrix and Power Series Methods) with two 5-week, 2 credit courses: MTH 264 (Introduction to Matrix Algebra) and MTH 265 (Introduction to Series). Accordingly, this proposal replaces the MTH 483 prerequisite of MTH 306 with (MTH 306 or MTH 265). A prerequisite of MTH 264 is not needed for MTH 483, since matrix algebra is not used in the course.
Comments:
This change of prerequisites has been approved by the Math department's Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and by recent MTH 483 instructors.
