Proposal

Proposal ID: 106801
Type: Change Major/Option/Minor/Certificate
Submission Date: May 28, 2019 6:02pm
Effective Term: Summer 2019
Justification:
The Math department recently decided to replace the 10-week, 4 credit course MTH 306 (Matrix and Power Series Methods) with two 5-week, 2 credit courses: MTH 264 (Introduction to Matrix Algebra) and MTH 265 (Introduction to Series). Accordingly, this proposal allows an Actuarial Science minor to substitute MTH 253 with either MTH 306 or (MTH 264 and MTH 265). This proposal does not modify the mathematical content in the Actuarial Science minor in any way; rather, it accounts for the recent change in course numbers from MTH 306 to MTH 264 and 265.
Comments:
This modification to the Actuarial Science minor requirements has been discussed and approved by the Math department's Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.
